What is a NHTSA Crash Report?
A NHTSA Report is an in-depth report on how a vehicle, or an individual, can withstand against different types of crashes. These can range from, Head-on Collisions, Side Collisions, or Rollovers. The information in these reports are gathered using actual vehicles, test dummies, and high-tech sensors to give the reader an idea on how safe, or unsafe, a vehicle will be in a crash.
What's an RPO Code?
In the Automotive Industry an RPO Code, or Regular Production Option Code, identifies many different characteristics or "Options" a vehicle may have. These codes can be used to identify Paint Colors, Seat Types, Interior Types, Export Status, Production Location, Emissions or even the Special Production Variants of a vehicle.
Prior to 2018, General Motors would place a "Service Parts Identification" Label in the glove box compartment which would showcase every RPO Code for that specific vehicle. After 2018, a "2D Data Matrix Code" Label was created to replace the Service Parts Identification Label and was relocated to the Door Jamb. These new labels, unlike the old ones, does not showcase every RPO Code and must be scanned with a smart phone to reveal all a vehicles equipped options.
